A Day In The Life Ofangie Petkovic

I never have two days the same at apt and that’s why I love it so much.  So the one I am describing is not wholly typical as they really are all so different.

My day started today at 5am working with a client in the US. I was getting up as he was working towards going to bed; I was drinking coffee, he was on the Horlicks. We exchanged a series of emails, transferred downloads and telephone conversations before agreeing the final course of action - which he will sign off as he is getting up and I am heading home. I then prepared a proposal for an exciting potential new client, sent some follow up emails to a couple of businesses and then cracked into my inbox – it’s crazy that you can get so many emails into an inbox and with 200-450 a day it’s imperative I keep on top of it.

Next a quick catch up for the end of the month invoicing and then a couple of calls to chase some payments and then back to the inbox.  The alarm goes off and it’s time to leave for a meeting.

Held at Maisemore Business Centre, it was a meeting to discuss Low Carbon Gloucestershire - a really interesting group of people, some great ideas and confirmation that Gloucestershire is a brilliant place to be!  Watch out for the Business Show in May it’s going to be a great show.  One of the things discussed was ‘Earth Overshoot Day’ which was on August 19th and if this passed you by, you should definitely check it out – it really makes you see that we are all living on an overdraft of resource. In just eight months, the world has consumed more natural resources than the Earth can produce in one year; we are now living on resources borrowed from future generations. A sobering thought and something we should all be looking at ways we can contribute towards changing.

Back to the office, a catch up with messages, answering the teams questions, responding to the news in South West Business and contacting a client to link in with some of this.  I had a quick update with our new apprentice who went for an interview with Gloucestershire College, then back to that inbox.

On to the presentation for the clients that I am meeting for dinner tonight, and they are bringing some potential clients with them so need to do some homework for that – I love referrals they are simply the best form of business you can get!

Victoria then tells me it’s time to go to a client meeting in Gloucester and we jump in the car, forgot about the road-works on the A40 so had to phone in and let the client know we would be six minutes late. We had a great meeting, more exciting updates and lots to do then back to the office for a lemon meringue cup cake – a great energy boost as I missed lunch. Then back to it with the inbox and telephone messages, before filling the car with petrol and down to Hotel Du Vin for dinner – I wonder what tomorrow will bring!
