A Selection Of The Best Brandfools 2014

Pranksters have eagerly been waiting for this day to pull off their top pranks – and we have not been disappointed! Following on from our top 5 business April Fools pranks last year, we have pulled together our top 5 #BrandFools for 2014!

5. Warburtons change the London skyline

Bread makers Warburtons announced their expansion plans this morning to sandwich in the famous Gherkin. Warburtons asked people for their suggestions on the expansion plans are received some great responses including:

  • “Is it gluten free?”
  • “A crumpet would look awesome”
  • “It really does give a breadtaking view

We’re already looking forward to seeing their prank next year!

4.Square eggs reported on Daybreak

ITV show Daybreak cleverly came up with a unique prank early this morning interviewing a farmer who claimed to be the first in the world to report that his chickens had started to lay square eggs, claiming that they would be easier and better to use. However not many people fell for it after the names “Ed White” and “April Fuller” gave it away.

3. BMW’s Ultimate Sleeping Machine

Following on from their triumphant BMW P.R.A.M (Postnatal Royal Auto Mobile) prank last year BMW has today launched the new BMW ZZZ Series Cot– a cot that makes a baby think they are sleeping in a BMW car due to its movements and sounds. Using #BMWZZZSeries it looks like a lot of parents would love for this product to come to market – and we’re sure babies would love it as well!

2. Google Maps and Pokémon

Google has let us relive our youth by combining Google Maps and our childhood favourite – Pokémon! Using Google Maps on a smartphone or tablet, users can select a new blue Pokéball icon and search the world for Pokémon characters.

The game was created for a fake job role saying that anyone who finds all 150 characters will be invited for a final interview.

We’ve loved searching for the characters and decided it was time to stop once when we found our favourite Pikachu!

1. Domino’s Edibox

A close choice between our top 2 but our favourite this year has come from Domino’s with their edible pizza box prank.

Simple and effective, Domino’s has fooled people (including us!) into believing that they have created an Edibox – a pizza box that is 100% edible that is also environmentally friendly as there is no rubbish to throw away! The prank got even better when Domino’s said, “Why think outside the box, when you can eat it!”
