Evian Baby And Me 2

As social media continues to grow, more businesses are taking to networking sites to promote their new marketing campaigns and services. With over 3.5 billion pieces of content being shared on Facebook each week and 5,000 tweets posted every second, it is not surprising that adverts and campaigns created over a year ago can start trending again.

Evian’s Baby and Me campaign is one such example; first released in early 2013 it has begun trending again.

Thanks to Twitter we re-found this advert and absolutely loved it all over again;  it’s great to see that Evian are also continuing with the campaign featuring Spiderman and Spiderbaby!

Released just before The Amazing Spider 2 is launched in cinemas, the ad uses the same popular 90’s soundtrack as last year’s, giving brand continuity and shows Spiderman noticing his much younger version. They begin dancing the same movements including in his unique ‘upside down’ position, and even create a skipping rope and a suspension bridge using their web-shooters.

Advertisements have changed from being fixed promotions of product, rolled out year on year and instead are beginning to become more story-like with a continuous theme and characters. One of the most popular examples of this currently is CompareTheMarket.com who has also created CompareTheMeerkat.com and uses several Meerkat characters to progress the story each time. Evian has continued their theme despite changing the characters, it is still clear that their brand tagline is running throughout the adverts – “Live Young, Evian”.

The Baby and Me advert was a great success last year, even being crowned as YouTube’s top UK ad of 2013 and we think that once the Amazing Spiderman 2 is released in cinemas, the advert will begin trending once more.
