Say Hello To The Unluckiest Van

Authored by Kristina Rickards

Some job roles often influence the type of vehicle you will drive.  For builders, plumbers and mechanics it is more than likely that will drive a van so they can carry their tools around with them to different jobs unluckily for them however it has been revealed  that van drivers are 142% likelier to crash whilst reversing than other motorists.

AXA has created an innovative video, based on some research they recently carried out with Road Safety Analysis that showcases the possible incidents a van driver could experience along with shocking statistics. The video is split into several episodes and we see a toy white van fumble down roads visually showing the audience different types of incidents that can take place. For example, “if you drive a van you’re 23% more likely to crash from tiredness than other drivers”, along with a clip of the van driving with a sleeping mask on.

This is a clever way of not only highlighting the importance of road safety, but also having insurance. It diverts away from the standard and mundane “have you had an accident?” type adverts, which do not always draw the audience in and make them want to use their services. Even though they’ve taken a fun and humorous spin on things, the audience know it’s a serious matter judging from the outrageous figures that will stick in your mind.

Along with this advert, they have created a selection of “key facts” images that link in with the statistics used in the video.
