The residents of Bristol witnessed a fabulous two-part firework display on Sunday night, as thousands of people got together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of Clifton Bridge.
If you were unlucky enough to miss out on this tremendous show, fortunately you can catch in this video:
Attendees were encouraged to take a few snaps and upload them to social media using the hashtag #fireworks150, to spread the word!
This Grade I listed bridge spans the entirety of Avon Gorge, and first opened to the public on 8th December 1864. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a non-profit-making registered charity responsible for the day to day running of the bridge itself.
At 7pm, there took place a minute silence in memory of Charlotte Bevan and her baby daughter Zaani who tragically died a few days before, as well as other people who have previously died at Avon Gorge. A collection was set up and all of the proceeds go to charity.
Although a sad moment, the contrasting fireworks display was a nice note to end with. We are sure that the spectacular show would have made Isambard Brunel proud to see the anniversary of his bridge marked in this way.
