Bringing cycling enthusiasts to the heart of Gloucestershire
Tewkesbury and Gloucester were transformed with a festival vibe as 120 elite cyclists raced through on the seventh and penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain 2023. The event attracted more than 40,000 spectators and generated over £1.1 million in local revenue!
Working with Gloucestershire County Council and the Tour of Britain, apt marketing and PR organised event performers and entertainment to support with the Tour of Britain 2022 and Tour of Britain 2023.
Sadly the 2022 Tour was cancelled at the last minute due to the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Luckily, the route and the objective (raise awareness of Gloucestershire as a tourist destination) remained the same as 2022, so we were able to use some of the plans for 2023 instead.
This may make it sound like an easy ride (see what we did there?) but it required teams of people working seamlessly together to make the stage such a success.
From BMX stunt riders to tandems and buskers, apt helped to entertain the crowds, raise awareness of the event and boost crowd numbers.
Sharron Davies and Mel Nicholls were the celebrity presenters.
