APT Academy - Kim Holder

When you get greeted by dogs at the gate when you arrive at your work experience, you know it’s going to be a week full of tummy rubs and ear scratching (for the dogs not me). There’s also always plenty of snacks to go around to keep you going throughout the day which is always a good thing.

When I arrived at APT on Tuesday, I was just wanting to gain some experience in Marketing from a smaller agency side rather than my previous work experience for an international company. I wanted to gain further knowledge in the social media, web and graphic design aspects of the business as these were the industries that I was looking to go down after I graduate from university.

I felt as If I was given a lot of responsibility whilst at this work placement as I was working on live projects for clients. However, it was nice to be trusted with such important tasks and this gave me more of an insight into exactly what the job entails day to day.

It was nice to be given a variety of jobs to do whilst at this placement, as this gave me the opportunity to delve into a few different areas and to really get a feel for what this type of job entails. This has also meant that I have gained important skills which will be useful for the future.

I have overall found my week at APT an enjoyable experience where I have gained skills that I can put into practice when going back to university/future jobs. All the staff were lovely and very helpful if I needed help with something or was unsure. I would recommend work experience with ATP to anyone who wants to gain a mixture of skills in marketing.
