A Blast From The Past Apt Rises To The Challenge In Latest Project For Xbrl

Earlier this month apt was approached by a previous client to help raise the profile of an event and wow has it been a real challenge! Hitting the ground running; this particular project, which has tested our ability to understand complex banking regulations and financial terminology, has been one of the most interesting and demanding projects this year!

We have been working closely with XBRL UK, a not-for-profit organisation which provides information and support for Government e-filing initiatives; to increase awareness and provide an understanding of the new banking regulation, CRD IV (Capital Requirements Directive), which will affect the banks and regulators here in the UK and Europe from 1st January 2014.

XBRL UK will be holding a one day conference on Monday 17th June at the London Hilton on Park Lane; providing financiers with full  insight into the new regulation. Our task has been to increase the need for leading regulators, banks, service firms, investment bankers, compliance and technology platform providers to attend to gain further clarity on this important change within the industry.

Speaking with financial journalists and banking bloggers from the likes of The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Independent, Central Banking and Sell-Side Technology; we have explored the importance of understanding Big Data and what can be done to ensure the successful implementation of COREP and FINREP reporting under CRD IV.

Philip Allen, Chairman of XBRL UK, provided our team with coherent and clear direction to ensure those who will be directly affected fully understand the imminent change; Philip’s extensive knowledge and brief has helped us, to an extent, become ambassadors for XBRL UK in a short space of time, but, we still came across some challenges.

This project has continuously tested our abilities and we are proud that we have been able to rise to the challenge, delivering results in such a short period of time. If you are a banker, regulator or a financial technologist, without question, you should be at this conference; these changes are going to happen, make sure you are ready for them!
