Jagermeister is hoping to gain the title of “coldest gig ever” in a bonkers PR stunt to help promote the brand.
The chilly gig takes place on the 24th November with ex-Busted star Charlie Simpson (yes really!) performing a solo set. Hosted in Oymyakon, Russia, the coldest permanently inhabited place on the planet (-40oC), the town. has a tiny population of 472, no running water or electricity and is so remote it takes a two day drive to reach from the nearest city.
Jagermeister’s core consumers are aged 20-30 which is a similar demographic to Charlie Simpson fans (perhaps!). The ‘Jagermeister Ice Cold Gig’ is to be supported with PR and a social media campaign in order to drive awareness in the lead up to Christmas.
Last week we posted about Red Bull Stratos, an event which broke 3 world records; these events signify the dawn of a new age where content and social marketing are tightly intertwined. How long before we’re overtaken by mediocre copycats and we’re all bored of this type of marketing ‘noise’?
