A Proposal A Girl Couldnt Say No To

As an office full of women (...and Chris...) we can safely say that we have all, at some point in our lives, thought about how our future fiancée’s will pop the question. Will they go all traditional and propose over a fancy meal? Will they take us on a gorgeous holiday and get down on one knee on the beach? Will they be really clever and conceal the ring in a fortune cookie? (yes, we stole that one from Bride Wars).

Well, none of these ideas are anywhere near as clever, creative or romantic as Paul Phillips proposal to his girlfriend Erika Ramos. Paul wrote a book about a ‘Gorilla’ and a ‘Giraffe’, portraying their loving relationship; how they met, fell in love, dated and included a scene where the Gorilla proposed. He then had the story illustrated by Nashville-based Yoni Limor, printed and hid the book at his local library.

His masterplan had to involve a well-thought excuse for visiting the library; Paul cleverly took out some books the previous week and explained that on their way to dinner they had to stop by to return the books. Erika ‘stumbled’ across the special book and, following a request from her future hubby, proceeded to read it aloud. Once Erika got to the scene where the Gorilla propsoses to his beloved Giraffe, Paul got down on one knee and made the story come true!

Now there’s a proposal a girl just could not refuse! Now we can all restore faith that there are still romantic and thoughtful men out there...now, we just have to find them!

There once was a gorilla,

That fell for a giraffe.

She surprised him by how much

She could make him laugh.

3

The two, you see,

Were from different worlds.

Their first date, so nervous,

He'd certainly hurl.

4

In spite of their differences,

It was love at first sight.

His feelings grew quickly,

His heart took to flight.

5

The gorilla, his life,

Unpolished and scattered

Now refined and focused

On those things that matter.

6

There were simply no words

For how lucky he’d gotten.

Without her by his side

Life would surely be rotten.

7

It’s hard to believe

Just how happy they were.

He could not imagine

Even one day without her.

8

So he got on one knee

And uttered the plea:

“My dearest giraffe,

Will you marry me?”

9

He felt his heart beating

Right out of his chest.

He could do nothing but wait

And hope she’d say YES.

10

When she finally answered

He could not stop grinning

Because he knew, in his heart,

This was just The Beginning!
