A Watch That Doubles Up As A Mobile Only Apple

Recently there have been rumours about what product Apple is going to introduce to the world next. It is not a phone, not a new laptop system, tablet or MP3 player. It is in fact a watch. Since share prices have declined and the latest addition to the iPhone family hasn’t gone down as well as expected; Apple and Chief Executive, Tim Cook, have been under extreme pressure to demonstrate that they are still top dogs when it comes to innovation. Although no one is completely sure what the device will look like, or what it will include, the leak has caused many to speculate. The telegraph has been told by unknown insiders that a team force of 100 strong Apple staff, including senior directors, has been assembled to work on the new iWatch; this could suggest that the product is beyond the experimentation phrase.

The device could be used to make mobile payments, for navigation, to access messages from the wearer's phone or to monitor health and activity; and is speculated to run on the same operating system as the iPhone and iPad. The Wall Street Journal has discussed some of the technical challenges the new watch could encounter, in particular the charge life. The last thing you want after a busy day is for your watch to run out of battery on your commute home; with an electrical, battery run gadget like this, it is very much a possibility.

The iWatch is certainly a cool concept, and we expect that the idea will have a warm welcome from all gadgeteers out there; if all goes to plan, this is definitely one to add to your 2013 Christmas list!
