Aint No Bud Dy That Loves Me Better

With $3.8 million to spend on 30 seconds of airtime, it is no wonder the adverts which were included in the Superbowl have been hugely analysed by critics. The ad taking the top spot this year has gone to Budweiser’s commercial ‘Clydesdales Horses’. Of course we had to see what the fuss was about...

What we came across was a heartfelt video, about the story of a Clydesdale foal getting hand reared and trained to become a cart horse. The sad day finally comes when the youngster gets taken away to its new life, leaving his trainer behind. A caption informing the audience that three years has passed since that day appears, and includes an image of a newspaper with the headline ‘Budweiser Clydesdales coming to Chicago’. Inevitably the trainer visits Chicago to see his beloved horse, and of course the horse three years on remembers his upbringing, with the advert ending in a way that makes the audience say ‘awwww’.

Not only that, Budweiser has taken to social media to engage with their customers. Giving them the opportunity to name this gorgeous horse involved in the advert.

This advert is certainly not your standard Bud or alcoholic beverage ad. With all the excitement and hype surrounding the Superbowl and other adverts, Budweiser has done a good job at bringing the audience back down to earth, whilst tugging on other emotions. They would certainly get our vote!
