Apt Set Up Camp At Lakefest 2013

Forget Glastonbury, Reading and V Festival; for apt, Lakefest 2013 was the king of the summer festivals this year. Last weekend the apt team embarked on one of their many adventures in 2013 with a trip to Lakefest, this also gave the team another event to mark as one of our 13 in 13 birthday events!

Lakefest is one of our clients and not only are we buzzing to have had the chance to actually go to the festival, but we’re also really proud of the work that both we and the festival have accomplished since joining as a team in April. Ticket sales were phenomenal, having sold just shy of 3,600 tickets in the run up to the annual music and watersports festival based at Croft Farm Waterpark; the tickets completely sold out on the Sunday.

Social media was a big hit amongst the crowd of ‘Lakefesters’ and we were delighted to have achieved fantastic results, with many people at the festival tuning in, including a huge following in America! The updates on social media, including Twitter and Facebook, went viral, with views reaching to Europe, Canada, the Far East and Australia. A whopping 43,161 were reached over the weekend through various status updates and one day had 17,210 unique views.

Lakefest isn’t just about the festival though, it’s about helping out to those who need it most, and that’s why this year apt and Lakefest worked with Winston’s Wish to grant three wishes over the course of the weekend and three after the festival (courtesy of Winstons Wish). We’re honoured to have had the opportunity to help the Lakefest team and Winston’s Wish make three wishes come true this weekend.

Tanya Nash was over the moon when her son Archie, 9 and 3 friends were given the opportunity to go aqua zorbing on the lake Friday afternoon.

On the Saturday, James and Ethan Broad were turned into VIP’s and headed backstage to meet Levellers. James brought his son, 6, to his first festival and was ecstatic to meet the band in person, particularly as it was his birthday and he came away with his album signed by the whole band, lucky chap!

On Sunday, Janet and Simon Shippen from Manchester travelled down to their first ever festival, Lakefest, and were able to meet Chas and Dave! Although they wished to buy them a pint, as Chas and Dave had to hit the road soon, they kindly donated more money to the Winston’s Wish Charity.

It wasn’t all work and no play though; the apt team had their own festival highlights. Kalli was lucky enough to get a kiss off Chas and Dave (Headline act on Sunday), Sarah loved getting behind the wheel when the whole office hit the dodgems arena and Angela enjoyed the yummy hog roast, crackling, stuffing and apple sauce bap from ‘Pig on the hill’. Debi’s highlight was spending the festival with her kids, whilst Chris’s was seeing a whole host of new bands he’d never heard before and Ruth’s was rocking to ‘The Beat’ on the Friday night.

It’s fair to say that Lakefest 2013 was a huge success and we loved everything and everyone involved with this year’s festival. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve been able to achieve with Lakefest and hope we can continue to do great work with them in the future.

If you want a weekend full of family fun, cider and great music, make sure you head to Lakefest next year. Follow this link to register for updates on the early bird tickets (hint: they will be available some time in September).
