Bringing Airport Fashion To Life

Recently, an article was posted online discussing the creative use of mannequins. In ‘United Arrows’, an airport clothing-store outlet located in Tokyo, sales assistants are dressing marionette bots (half robot half mannequin) in red arrow themed fashion. The bots are wired with the recent Kinect technology to mirror any kind of movement of the person in front of them.  However, despite it being an extremely creative and intriguing concept, it is also a controversial statement piece for Japan. Some may say that is very off-putting and can be used inappropriately. However, the inclusion of marionette strings gives some charm and comedy to the mannequin’s; and the engagement factor certainly is high!

Mannequin

We welcome another charismatic invention from the Japanese; although it could do with some slight tweaking as the mannequins can be quite static and structured in movement. However, what a new and captivating way to absorb more customers and improve profits! We are just going to have to wait and see if this design will lift off and maybe even venture to the UK?
