We've had a few new appointments here at apt lately (check out our website for more details of our expanded team!) - and that got us to thinking about just how creative CVs have become with recent advances in social media and user-friendly technology. Long gone are the days when CVs just consisted of two pages of Word with your name at the top. One resume that really caught our eye recently was one posted on LinkedIn, by established multimedia designer Robby Leonardi
Robby has created his CV as an interactive, multi-levelled game which is a visual feast but is also amazingly easy to navigate and understand.
What is especially clever is his use of moving infographics to illustrate his technical ability and skills in an easily digestible format.
The 'game' ends, after travelling through several levels of experience, skills and samples, with an easy-to-use contact form and the inevitable links to social media - a brilliant job which made us want to hire him on the spot!
A couple of examples of graphic design as CV follow - from interface designer Arbrenoir who has designed a visually stunning piece of art to celebrate her work, and creative director Stuart Mayhew who has created an infographic which easily transports you through his world.
Whilst we appreciate it may not be appropriate to use such creative CV designs for all jobs, we love the idea that a resume can be interesting to look at as well as to read - anything that helps it stand out in such a crowded market has to be a good thing, as long as the content is easy to find and understand.
Closer to home, we recently received a lovely CV from an aspiring digital marketer looking for work with us - she's devised a game in which her life experience becomes the board, complete with character 'bonuses'! Good luck Charlotte and keep in touch!
