Disney Aims To Promote Safer Internet Campaign To Families

It is no longer uncommon to see an 8 year old with a Twitter/Facebook account. With the advancement and need for technology increasing, it has naturally become more available to everyone, even if you do not wish to be part of the growing trend. The internet undoubtedly has many advantages but over the last decade we have also seen a huge increase in cyber bullying.

A campaign due to launch on the 5th February is part of a pan-European “Safer internet day” project. Disney has partnered with Childnet and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, to promote awareness of online safety to families.

The idea is based around the theme “connect with respect” and will feature a TV ad which includes many popular Disney characters explaining “rules of the road when it comes to online safety”. The campaign will run across all Disney platforms including their various TV channels, the website and in store, in the hope that it will reach a massive audience.

One ambassador of the campaign is recent X factor starlet Ella Henderson. After just coming out of school herself she is the perfect person for the role.  The singer says, "It's great that Disney, Childnet and CEOP are working together to make sure kids know the help that's out there and the basic rules of behaviour online."
