Dont Lego Of Your Social Media

Many organisations around the globe often fail to see the impact of social media and the connection it has with customer satisfaction. In a bid to educate their team about the numerous benefits, Danish toy brand Lego is encouraging its senior management team to sit study up and exams about social media.

The Lego page has a 4 million strong fan base on Facebook; if those responsible aren’t sure how to interact properly with this audience, they could destroy the brand’s reputation in an instant. Lars Silberbauer, Lego’s Director of Social Media, decided to create a development programme to ensure that everyone who handles the social media within the organisation is using the online platform appropriately and to its full potential. The day long course became so popular that the senior managers wanted to take advantage of the extra training!

Lars intended to show his employees how creative engagement in social media could not only increase sales but could also create a strong connection between an organisation and its consumers.

More companies should be following in Lars’s footsteps to encourage senior management to learn about the benefits of social media and not just how to use it. After all, they know the organisation best!
