Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2015

Last night, the apt team attended the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2015 at The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse. The event was held in honour of apprentices up and down Gloucestershire in celebration of their talent.

The black tie event kicked off at 7pm and we were greeted with champagne at the reception. Many businesses from around the county attended the event including EDF Energy, Gloucestershire NHS, Messier Bugatti Dowty, Local World and Mary Ps Ltd.

We sat down to our table, number 29 to be exact and listened to a lovely welcome speech from Sarah Pullen, Managing Director of Local World. Then… dinner time! We ate a wonderful three-course meal consisting of Roast Cotswold chicken and a trio of deserts! (And as we all have a sweet tooth here at apt, we were very happy!)

After an introduction from Jenny Eastwood, Editor of the Gloucester Citizen, the awards commenced! They were being hosted by Steve Knibbs from BBC Points West and the tension was slowly building to our apprentice’s category - Outstanding Apprentice of the Year (Business and Financial). The videos were played of the apprentices in their workplace along with an interview and then the winner was announced...

A huge congratulations to Amber Teed-Parsons from The South West Apprenticeship Company Ltd for winning Outstanding Apprentice of the Year! Our finalist, Kristina says “I’m very happy to have been a finalist in the Apprenticeship Awards, I can’t believe I even got this far. Thank you to everyone at the Gloucester Citizen & Echo and Local World for this opportunity and I will continue to work hard for future prospects!”

After the awards came to a close, the evening came to a close and it was time to go home. Again, a big congratulations to Amber Teed-Parsons and of course to our fabulous apprentice Kristina; we are so proud and we are looking forward to future events!
