Heinekens Holiday Takeover

Would you ever consider booking your holiday without knowing where you were going?

Last week, Heineken were giving travellers the opportunity to go on holiday to a random destination with their borderline risky game, ‘Departure Roulette’. To take part, all travellers had to do was commit to dropping all of their holiday plans, push a big red button, wait nervously for their new destination and leave immediately.

Appealing to the adventurous and thrill seeking, new destinations included Portugal, Iceland, Cyprus and Switzerland, irrespective of the travellers’ original plans.

Usually people plan their holiday’s months, even a year in advance; taking out every magazine in a travel agency, scouring over hotel reviews and searching for the best deals. ‘Departure Roulette’ gives participants the chance to scrap these plans and be taken on a holiday they have no control or say over; the decision being made for them right in front of their eyes at JFK’s Terminal 8, New York.

Here at apt we like the idea of jetting off last minute without the hassle of having to plan every detail of our holiday; but if we had spent hours searching for the perfect holiday and half the year getting excited for the plans we’d made then we’d be less likely to take part in Heinekens’ game.
