This week in the office we stumbled across the most incredible light sculpture on boredpanda.com. Designed by Hilden & Diaz and inspired by the drawings of Ernst Haeckel; the chandelier has been fashioned in such a way that it intercepts the light from the light bulb in certain places, creating tangled branches, which are projected as shadow formations at a 360 degree angle on every wall and the ceiling. These shadows are cast around the room, revealing what looks like forest trees and transforming the room into a jungle.
Although the consensus at apt was that we probably wouldn’t want to wake up in a room like the one above, especially if we were to suddenly wake from a nightmare; however we all agreed that this is a brilliant concept and believe it could be a real asset in a retail environment. For example, we thought about how a brand could use something similar to project their logo onto the walls to create a unique atmosphere, which would definitely spark attention. There already appears to be a lengthy waiting list for people requesting this model prior production, and we think this could create some excellent marketing opportunities – we are very interested to see this concept evolve!
