Kent Fire & Rescue service recreate Dirty Dancing video...

Kent Fire & Rescue Service have wowed their Twitter followers by demonstrating a new and innovative way to stay safe at home by ensuring their fire alarm is regularly checked.

They have been trying to promote weekly fire alarm testing, by showing two crew members recreating the world famous Dirty Dancing finale dance - even including the lift! The fire alarm is then tested when the female crew member is lifted in to the..complete with the full fire fighting aparatus might we add! The strapline ‘Keep having the time of your life’is then displayed on screen – a twist on the well-known Dirty Dancing song - reiterating how important simple fire checks are at home and how serious the outcomes can be.

The video has over 2,700 likes on twitter and 1,400 retweets so far, so it’s obvious the public are enjoying the entertaining video. One twitter user @johnshorter1 commented ‘I can’t lift my wife! Will the local crew be able to help?’ and Kent Fire and Rescue Service replied, ‘It’s all about technique, John.’ Along with other users asking other fire services to join in with the comical videos.

Although the fire crew have been a hit on the internet promoting fire safety, we can imagine that most of the public are going to be sticking to using a step ladder…
