Lydias Week Unedited

I was thrilled to get a week’s work experience at apt marketing. The last agency I interned at was great, but quite large so the hands on experience I acquired was limited. I was conscience that I didn’t want to spend my week completing trivial tasks like filing and I wasn’t disappointed. Throughout the week I assisted on real client’s projects, experienced how a marketing and PR firm operate first hand, as well as improved my writing and web marketing skills. Some of the tasks I were given I had never done before, and some of the software they use I had never encountered. However all the staff were patient and helpful, keen to show me the ropes and made me feel confident in my abilities.

The atmosphere is a perfect working environment and I felt welcome straight away. It’s a relaxed office yet everyone is constantly working, I found it to be a great balance, and I was well looked after with a constant supply of cups of teas. I put this down to all the staff getting on well with each other and having a genuine passion for their clients and what they do. The days went by so quickly probably because I was kept busy and having fun. I think the most important thing I got from the experience is that it reinforced my desire to work in a marketing agency.

The variety of clients is refreshing as not one day was the same. I particularly enjoyed writing blogs and creating emailers as it allowed me to express myself in a professional way, which is one thing not taught at University. In total my week here has probably shown me more about marketing than a month learning theory in a lecture hall, I would recommend this agency to anyone! I’ve enjoyed my time here so much that I asked to carry on coming in around my studies, and apt marketing couldn’t be more accommodating. I am hugely grateful that I was given this opportunity in the first place and that I’ve been able to extend my time here.
