Madame Tussauds Celebrate Social Media Week

Madame Tussauds have taken to social media in a bid to engage with more customers. They have created a campaign, a ‘Social Media Figure Contest’ if you will where. Users can cast their vote on which celebrity they would like to see immortalised, (Fans must ‘like’ the Madame Tussauds Hollywood Facebook Page first). The unique competition was launched to coincide with the opening event for “Social Media Week” in Los Angeles, a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. "This is an exciting time for Madame Tussauds Hollywood to be able to engage directly with our consumers," said Colin Thomas, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hollywood.  "Our figures are chosen to honor [sic] and celebrate the most influential talent on a global level. We are thrilled to launch this campaign at Social Media Week Los Angeles and have the opportunity to allow our network and the large digital fan base to choose who they would like to see immortalized [sic] in wax."

This is an extremely clever stunt from the wax works museum; first the contest will generate more ‘likes’ to the brands page, which will spread the brand around numerous news feeds. Second, as the celebrity coming to life in the form of wax, will be the consumer’s choice, this should encourage more people to visit the exhibition to see the outcome of their vote. Who would you like to see made out of wax?  Here are the contestants; Ryan Gosling, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Reynolds, or Sophia Vergara. The lucky celeb is set to premiere in Hollywood early June, 2013. We are backing the boys!
