May I Take One Moment By Angela Wright

The past six months has flown by and to think about what both I and the PR team  have achieved is substantial, incredible and above all rewarding. I can’t believe that my temporary contract has come to an end, as it feels like I’ve been here so much longer!! Before I say goodbye to apt one more time, I would like to take a moment to reflect in my journey; what I have learnt, accomplished and downright loved!

So what has been my favourite highlight? Well of course it must be our involvement with the local festival Lakefest and helping drum up interest, increase ticket sales and build awareness. Working closely with my colleague Kalli, who I will truly miss for her flamboyant and charismatic character, we devised a PR strategy and hit the phones; achieving radio interviews with the likes of BBC Radio Gloucestershire, competitions with leading publications including Gloucestershire Media and Midlands Newsquest and an endless list of press reviews, editorial coverage and promotion. Not only were we able to promote this incredible festival which was on our doorstep, we had the honour of seeing the event through and follow-up post event interest.

A real learning curve for me has come from working with our client BABTAC (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology) and their involvement with the Sir Bruce Keogh Review into Cosmetic Interventions. I can tell you now, when it comes to crisis PR, there is no-one better to learn it from than our extremely knowledgeable and fun-loving MD, Angie. With the team all pulling together and stepping up to the mark, we were able to achieve national, trade and local PR, along with radio interviews and TV interviews which included Channel 5 and Sky News. A truly incredible experience and one that I will not forget in a long time...

Other fun experiences and great laughs came through celebrating apt’s 13th birthday through 13 events; we were lucky enough to attend the races, gain a special VIP pass to watch the gallops at Kim Bailey Racing and be amongst the first few to taste test the new Yo Sushi! Franchise in Cheltenham. To say we have done a lot over the past few months is an understatement; ‘cramming’ would be a more appropriate word!

I have so much more to say but if I was to include every single experience or highlight this post would end up to being more than several pages long. With great colleagues and friends who made me feel so welcome and introduced me to the area (I only moved from Birmingham earlier this year!) I would like to thank them all for making my working day very enjoyable.

I’ll miss you guys!
