We have seen some incredible new concepts introduced recently; such as Apple’s iPhone 6 as seen on YouTube, which, official or not, is a good indication of where the industry is heading. But when it comes to technological advances, Google seems to be pioneering above the rest. So far this year we have been able to enjoy the Google Nexus, offering techy’s a tablet for a fraction of the price of the infamous iPad but still packs a huge punch!
However, the industry giant’s newest invention has captured the attention of every gadget geek on the planet. Please welcome Google Glass; a wearable computer with a head-mounted display (HMD) that is being developed by Google with the mission of producing a ‘mass-market ubiquitous computer’ (basically, an inexpensive, robust processing device).
The
design takes Augmented Reality to the next level; displaying information in a
Smartphone-like hands-free format that interacts with the internet voice
commands.
Packed with quirky and innovative features; our favourite has to be the ‘wink feature’ where the clever contraption remembers and recognises the action of your wink and when performed whilst wearing the glasses, prompts the gadget to take a picture! Genius!
Unfortunately at the moment the product is still in beta testing mode; lucky individuals who tweeted #ifihadaglass were entered into the Google database and chosen to be a ‘Glass Explorer’ dependant on what they would do if they had the gadget (why didn’t we know about this?). But don’t despair! The Glass website states there will be more chances to get a Glass at a later date, just sign up to receive alerts and you may be in with a chance!
Check out what the lucky testers got up to with theirs...
