Could you return a serve from Serena Williams, or beat Lebron James on the basketball court in a one-on-one? These are a few of the questions Nike are raising as they celebrate their 25th anniversary of their famous “Just Do It” campaign by unveiling “Possibilities”; a redefined installation of its classic campaign by encouraging people to go further.
The “Possibilities” campaign is being fronted by a 90-second TV advert featuring an all-star cast full of superstar athletes. The Wieden + Kennedy creative is narrated by actor Bradley Cooper and stars NBA MVP Lebron James, Tennis World Number 1 Serena Williams and FC Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué, challenging several individuals to reach new goals.
Davide Grasso, Nike Global Chief Marketing Officer commented saying "For 25 years, we’ve been inspiring people to Just Do It, with ‘Possibilities’ we’re taking 'Just Do It' to a whole new place, showing people a new way to set goals and think about their own athletic potential, then helping them to achieve those goals through products, services and inspiration.”
Nike’s “Possibilities” aim is to inspire sporting achievements through Nike+. The sports brand is offering new innovative features on their Nike Running app which enables runners to; set a distance goal, invite Nike+ friends to join, race to the finish line and earn NikeFuel. Runners can also stay motivated by checking the live leaderboard to track progress, and see where they rank amongst their friends.
The campaign is set to run through until September and is supported by a social media campaign whereby players are also encouraged to share their achievements through the #justdoit hashtag, with the brand promising to take the strapline to a “whole a new place” in upcoming activity.
