The Power Of Twitter

We all know social media has emerged as one of the most contemporary and effective trends in the marketing world, but today staff members at apt got a ‘first-hand experience’ of just how amazing Twitter can be.

In business, things don’t always go to plan and that’s exactly what happened today with our new client StreetVelodrome. This Sunday they are set to embark on producing a video trailer for television station, Channel 4,  but were let down by the original team of cyclists.

Following news at 13:25, we hit the tweeting deck at 13:30 and were shocked at the level of response and interaction we had. Within 45 minutes of tweeting apt managed to obtain the required six bike riders, plus a few more and also had five retweets from followers including Rebecca Browning, Christopher Robins, Sudeley Castle, NCASS and Compass Holidays.

Today Twitter has been a lifesaver for us here. We managed to reach people from all over the UK, fix an issue and even promote the awareness of one of our client’s events. It’s really shows the diversity of social media and how important it for all aspects of marketing. This was no better summed up than from our very own account manager, Victoria Petkovic-Short, who commented

“Sometimes people need to remember just how powerful Twitter is.”
