The Worst Hotel In The World

“It can’t get any worse. But we’ll do our best.”

This is the tag line for budget hotel Hans Brinker in Amsterdam, yet, based on reviews on Trip Advisor, the worst hotel in the world is in fact a very clever marketing ploy and isn’t as bad as it hopes to be! No, the reviews aren’t great, but they are okay.

A lot of time and effort has been put into cultivating the reputation that Hans Brinker is the worst hotel in the world, simply as a PR stunt to get everyone talking. The website is fantastic and includes lots of materials (posters and their very funny eco-philosophy) that reiterate the message and there is even a book dedicated to it. It is clear that they have had a substantial allocated marketing budget, but is this a sensible expenditure of money, or would it be better spent upgrading the hotel?

Complaints
Being known as the worst hotel in the world clearly works for them, creating a morbid curiosity to experience this first-hand.  Self proclaimed as the worst hotel in the world,  for those travelling and looking for a stay on a minimum budget, this could actually be the perfect hotel (...and we are using the term ‘perfect’ very, very loosely!). We love this campaign, however warped it might be!
