When we talk about the future world, most people expect to see incredible technological advances like hover cars, virtual reality and robots; not a flash back of the dark ages where technology and electricity was nonexistent. Well we have been watching the odd snippet of the new TV series Revolution and it has got us thinking, what would happen without...? A scary thought and one we aren’t fond of in the office.
In modern society everyday devices or innovations such as mobile phones, computers, the internet and even transport are often taken for granted. Little do we realise that without electricity or technology many would find it hard to adapt; what would we do without Facebook, social media or texting?
This programme has started to make us think that maybe inventors of our day need to go back to basics and look into new innovations which makes use of man power and renewable resources; such as a new and improved plastic cup with rope for a telephone. We know this idea seems silly and we are used to 3G and now even 4G data connections; but if the world was plunged into a no technology/electricity zone, what choices would we have?
This is an interesting topical issue and concept brought to light by the television studio behind this new series and we are intrigued to see how this series pans out. We are always quick to think about future innovations; and with how fast paced our technical ability is achieving, it would be right to do so. However, we should take a step back and think what would happen if we didn’t have this anymore and think what could be done without. Hmm room for thought...
