Sit back, hold tight and get ready for departure, because ladies and gentleman we’re taking you on a one stop tour to the island of FC Barcelona.

Well that’s according to a new ad from Barcelona sponsor, Qatar Airways, who has recently secured a 3 year advertising deal  with the club. The deal, that is said to be worth a staggering €96 million, allows the prestigious airline to have the rights for between 50 and 60 more of these innovative and entertaining ads.

Shaped in the crest of FC Barcelona team badge, the island is fully joined by a star studded cast of the team’s first team players. First up on arrival at the airport (and rather appropriately), we see Barcelona’s new €57 million summer signing Neymar greeted by centre back Gerard Piqué at the customs desk.

We’re then taken on a tour of the island where we get to see Andrés Iniesta star as a painter, learn how to dance with the incomparable Messi and watch Carles Puyol save people by taking a header from a plant pot in the street.

The ad campaign was launched on the same day that the prestigious Middle-Eastern airline announced becoming the official sponsor of the Catalan giants and with over two million hits on YouTube already, it’s obvious to see why Barcelona have hit the back of the net with this one.

Here at apt we praise creativity and in true Barcelona style that’s exactly what they’ve given us with this ad. It’s taken advertising to a new level and it’s certainly one of the best sporting adverts we’ve seen this year. Felicitaciones!
