What Really Happened To Our Favourite Fairy Tale Females

Have you ever considered what the modern day Disney-Princess might look like? Or perhaps what may have happened if she hadn’t lived so ‘happily-ever-after’? Well, quirky photographer Dina Goldstein challenges the notion that all fairytales end happily as Disney would have us believe, and has unveiled a series of portraits exploring the possibilities of what life might be like today for a Disney princess.

"My Fallen Princesses series was born out of deep personal pain, when I raged against the 'happily ever after' motif we are spoon fed since childhood," explains Goldstein, the Israel-born photographer.

The somewhat controversial photographs in Goldstein’s Disney-inspired collection feature the likes of Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, Pocahontas and Jasmine as they face modern realities such as war, alcoholism, obesity and even cancer. Goldstein has titled this body of work ‘Fallen Princesses’, see the pictures below.
