Work Experience With Apt

Last week, we had two work experience placements from a Gloucester school, hoping to obtain an insight into the world of marketing and pr. Joining us for a week straight after their GCSE mocks, the two boys were an absolute pleasure to have on board. Wishing them both all the best in the future. Here’s what they had to say… (Please note, these blogs are unedited as supplied).

Spending my time at apt I really have been overwhelmed by the array of things that can be done in marketing. From data basing and researching to getting hands on with clients and looking at potential sponsors for events in Gloucester. Here at apt I’ve always had something to do and get involved with, despite my first views that I might be bored for the week like many of my other friends. But it’s been far from that and I believe I’ve got so much out of this experience so far seeing as I’ve covered many aspects that marketing involves. This week I’ve got to grips with sponsorships, event organising and management, branding and data basing. All of which overall helps me to discern that marketing is the right career path for me. Everyone here at apt has been so helpful at helping me to crack the books on marketing and I can’t be more thankful for the opportunity that they’ve given me.

Over the past week, I have been at apt for my work experience. I’m in the last year of my GCSE’s and I came here with a pretty good idea of where I wanted to go career wise. I wanted to go into the world of TV advertising, an industry that I have been interested in for years. However, in the weeks leading up to the placement, I thought I may have made a mistake. But I can safely say after this week that I made the right choice. The people at apt are all so welcoming and are willing to help whenever you need it. I’ve always had enjoyable and interesting tasks to do and the atmosphere within the office is has been comfortable throughout. I have felt like one of the team, not just an outsider or a hindrance. This is certainly not like a normal work experience placement. All of the tasks that I have been asked to complete have been relevant for the clients that apt are working with at the moment. It has given me a real taste of what this working sector is like and I absolutely love it. I sincerely hope that I can follow this up and work for a company in advertising or marketing in the future. Thank you to everyone around the office for a brilliant week.
