Work Experience With Apt By Martha Eley

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from my work experience at apt but the skills I have learnt here are invaluable. I have had a fabulous time and I really don’t want to leave! I’m uncertain about what I want to do as a career in the future, but this experience has been a real eye opener; now that I’ve had some proper experience in the ‘real world,’ I’m seriously considering marketing and PR as a possible career.

apt has been a marvellous place to work, everyone is so friendly and helpful and I am very thankful to have been welcomed so warmly into the apt family. Aside from the various tasks I have been set, it’s been a pleasure to just watch and listen to everyone work. Despite the relaxed atmosphere, everyone is so professional and knowledgeable, which has been very inspiring to see.

I’ve been shown so many aspects of marketing and PR, learning new skills and gaining confidence (thanks Kalli for getting me to use the phone! It was petrifying but I’m glad I did). The tasks I’ve been given were never menial and boring; I have worked on things such as websites and press releases, all for real clients. It has been great to actually have an impact on real projects (and to be trusted enough to have a crack at them!) As a self-proclaimed technophobe, at least when it comes to more complex programs, I’m pretty proud that I’ve been able to use some of the programs that I have!

I really have been thrown in the deep end, learnt a lot and above all enjoyed every minute! I feel very privileged to have spent a week at apt, so thank you again everyone for the experience, advice and many superb cups of tea!
