You Thought It Was All Over

London 2012 was a truly inspiring event which gripped the nation this summer. Regardless of your previous interest in sport and however ‘bah humbug’ you may have been prior to the event, I’m sure that there is not one person who didn’t develop (even if only slightly) the Olympic fever that swept through the airwaves.

A few of apt’s own got the once in a lifetime chance to go to London for the Olympics and haven’t stopped talking about it since! It proved to be bigger and better than anyone could have hoped for and has influenced many to take an interest in sporting events around the UK.

In order to maintain the momentum and the influence of sport, London 2012 has emailed a newsletter to its subscribers to reassure them that even though the Olympics has been and gone, what the event has left behind is here to stay.

In the email entitled ‘You thought it was all over?’ London 2012 demonstrated ways the public can get involved in sports and that it is never too late to start. As well as highlighting the best moments of the event the email also highlights upcoming events such as Glasgow 2014.

This email has been received by all subscribers of London 2012, regardless of whether they had tickets or not. This means that it is not just those who managed to get seats who are involved in this continuing campaign, but for all who had shown an interest and support, giving them a wider audience.

It will be interesting to see if this campaign continues over time or if it is just a one off. In order for London 2012 to preserve the impact it has had on sporting events throughout the year, it will need to continue with regular emails to continue the public’s engagement in sporting events across Britain.
